Today is day one of the Bout of Books 9.0 Readathon! For the next week, I'll be posting my updates here. Tomorrow I'll wrap up how much I managed to read today, but for now, let's look at the books I'm planning on reading this week and some of the daily challenges.

TBR List

1. The Demon King by Cinda Williams Chima
2. V for Vendetta by Alan Moore and David Lloyd
3. The Giver by Lois Lowry

Challenges
There are two challenges for the readathon today, click read more to see my responses to them!

Challenge #1: Book Buying Spree!
The first challenge is being held by bookishcomforts and the task is to fill up your cart on Book Depository until you have around $100 worth of books, and to show what books you would get if you actually had that much money to spend. Here are the 8 books I picked!

Challenge #2: Mad Libs!

The challenge is to complete the list of words needed for a mad lib using words from the titles of books. Here is the words needed and what I chose;

character name – Scarlette by Davonna Juroe
adjective1 – Something Strange and Deadly by Susan Dennard
adjective2 – False Memory by Dan Krokos
item – Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas
occupation –  The Assassin and the Desert by Sarah J. Maas
act of violence – Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo
adjective3 – The Unfailing Light by Robin Bridges
noun1 – The Time Machine by H.G. Wells
noun2 – The Painted Veil by W. Somerset Maugham

Now to put these words into the story...
I just read the greatest book!
This guy Scarlette ends up in the middle of a/an strange conspiracy. Turns out his/her ancestors were pirates, and he/she might be the key to finding the false crown. It’s a mythic artifact that disappeared centuries ago, and now a shadowy group of assassinss are looking for it. No one knows what uncovering it might do, but these guys are willing to siege for it.
I won’t say anything else. But believe me, if you like unfailing stories with time machines and veils, you have to read this one.
